Murray's bad year was predicted by just about every single NFL analyst out there. The Cowboys basically ran him into the ground the year before and he had no legs last year. I don't know that it's fair to say that Chip misused him because Mathews, Sproles, and Barner all performed better than him in the same offense.

Alonso is still on his rookie deal and had a great rookie year. Maybe he was awful last year, but giving up on him that fast doesn't seem wise. Maybe a new coach does better. I'd have kept him at least, because he's cheap and would be a FA next year anyways so if he sucks, he's out.
He's also coming off multiple knee surgeries and it's just as likely that his rookie year was an outlier. Additionally, as I said, he'd have been third on the depth chart behind Hicks and Kendricks. If he goes on to recover and become great player then so be it, but if not then it's better to get something for him this year than lose him for nothing next year. I'd also wager that he was thrown in to make taking on Maxwell's contract more palatable.

If the Eagles stay out of FA, I think they'll be ok. Given the contract Roseman gave to Bradford, I'd want them staying the hell out of FA. But if he goes in...I'd be deeply worried as an Eagles fans, given the Bradford contract.
Meh, the Bradford contract is only for two years and he would've gotten that or more on the open market. Is he getting paid too much? Probably, but it's not like there were better options awaiting the Eagles in FA, and the draft is looking pretty iffy for QBs this year.

Howie's track record in FA is a mixed bag, but I think he learned big time from the Dream Team fiasco. They absolutely need to spend in FA, but they need to be smart and go after the low-risk, high-reward types and address the holes in the secondary and on the offensive line. Signing McKelvin to a two-year deal today looks like a solid opening move.
