His defense is so good that his noodle bat doesn't matter. His .672 OPS last year is adequate, only slightly below average. If he maintains that, he'll be fine as an every day player. If he can improve, that'd be awesome.

I agree with this. I don't think Goins will ever get to the point where his bat is anything but below average, but his D is so good it doesn't matter. He started to see alot more pitches in the 2nd half and IIRC his walks went up which is a good sign. If you are going to hit in the 8/9 spot in this lineup jsut get on base.
That being said, with the potential bat and all around skills Travis flashed last year I'm very excited to see what he could do with a full season. Nice to see the Jays have such good middle IF options for once.
