yes I think there's a misunderstanding.
With this goaltending business, you have to start somewhere.
I’m not saying that they needed to acquire their future starter by the deadline.
But I do think that they could have acquired a “potential starter” with worst case being “solid backup” by this deadline.
Hell maybe they acquired someone that didn’t even work out. But you have to start somewhere.
Take the Leafs with Sparks, or the Oilers with Brossoit – they are taking a lost season and giving them a runway to finish to see what they have. And it does appear to work (less pressure).
What are we doing? It’s the definition of insanity what we’re doing. (same thing over, expecting a different result).
Hartley obviously doesn’t like Ortio so what’s the point.
My biggest concern is we go into next season with two new goalies and we rinse and repeat goaltending uncertainty just as we did this season. Kinda like ground hog day…
