The problem (and I say problem because I just don't agree with many of his policies) is that Trump just doesn't look that unreasonable on the debate stage a lot of the time. Should he be making cracks about the size of his genitals? Likely not, but most would-be supporters just don't care and laugh it off. He is almost surely wrong and has flip-flopped on some issues, but he's playing the "outsider" and "flexible" card so that justifies it.
Even I as a complete non-supporter felt that the more Fox was fact-checking him it almost made me sympathize with him in a sort of underdog way. Like here is a guy who is the subject of a witch-hunt and I just disagree that this angle should be taken. I could be alone in that regard, but them attacking him so obviously almost made me like him more.
Between that and the the fact that the other choices left are probably worse, I can see how he's steam-rolling towards the nomination. Its one thing to say that Trump shouldn't be president and I'm inclined to agree...but if the other choice is Ted Cruz then I don't know that I'd be against Trump.
If I was in the states though I'd basically be hoping that Bloomberg jumps in as an independent and gives a viable third option. Regardless though, that debate was great viewing once the game was out of hand last night!
