Personally i think Alberta's best way to diversification is to actually enhance their already large energy platform, hear me out.
As the global population continues to develop and population grow energy consumption will continue to rise (and potentially plateau through efficiencies ect...) howvere there will ALWAYS be engery consumption, unless we go back to a stone age civilization however at that point this whole need for diversification is a moot point.
The problem with Alberta is our engery sector is heavily tied to one type, and one that in the long term will significantly decline. That being said there is still huge demand for the energy that we are producing. So lets return a portion of the royalties from one energy development type to an other. This way our industrial & manufacturing infrastructure can still be used and transitioned over a more realistic economic time frame while provide a product that will be used so long as there is a modern civilization.
