I have no issue with the whole money grab or marketing engine running this tournament, but I will admit the creation of this NA under 23 team has really doused my interest in this.

But I also know that it's because of what interests me in an event like this, which is 100% wanting to cheer for my country to beat other countries. I couldn't care less about a high level of play, I get my hockey fix enough during the NHL season, and to be honest I can't see this format driving the national pride that I think will be required to spark great play in the offseason, but maybe I'll be proved wrong.

I have no issue with the Euro team, gets kind of dumb at this level with the some of the bottom feeder Euro teams taking up a spot, but this NA team totally messed with what I value in a tourney like this. Now I kind of like the NA team cause of Johnny and Mony, and also if Canada beats the US I'll wonder if we beat the best US team, or if we lose if we would have won with our young guys. Makes me annoyed.

I do understand though how someone less motivated by the nationalistic element might be really pumped.
