MSG is just salt (Mono-Sodium) and Glutamate (which is the most abundantly occurring amino acid, which are components of proteins).
Glutamate is a common amino acid, and it's not capable of triggering an allergic reaction. Some people complain of headaches and fatigue from it.
However, virtually every double blind test on MSG has shown that it in no way causes any kind of symptoms when consumed in normal levels with food. Adding MSG to food hasn't been shown to be any more dangerous than adding table salt.
