I'd rather take the 6th and the roster spot instead of getting nothing at all and having Jones in the lineup for the rest of the season. The 6th is an asset. Not a great one, but still an asset. Who knows. The Flames just traded for Jokipakka who was a 7th rounder a few years ago. They picked Mangiapane with their 6th last year. It might pan out. Odds have it that it won't, but why not get as many picks for pending UFAs as possible? Plus you can bet that Hathaway wouldn't have made his NHL debut yesterday - Jones would have played. So yeah, I'll take this deal over standing pat every day of the week.
