Good post. Your not incorrect. But it's important to note the leaders don't always (often) mirror the public views.
It'd be like judging America on Trump. (Of which I admit I do)
I've seen many docs which paint Iran as progressive. And normal. And actually very happy about Western culture in general.
They are like America (or Canada?) They have to pick the least of the evils. This is nothing new.
