Not trying to fear monger but after reading everyone's responses, I'd say the big difference between Johnny and Janko situations, is the Flames were essentially willing to write off a whole contract year and pay out a big bonus for one game of play the year he signed. That had to be huge from a Gaudreau perspective in being willing to sign, that and he could be super confident he'd be starting in Calgary. Not sure the Flames would be as willing on the contract front with Janko, and we are much deeper at centre with Monny and Bennett that I could understand how Janko might be more motivated to explore options.
Sounds like it's not likely, but I'd had to have that first rounder disappear after all the effort we've but in.
