He was a 22 year old with no NHL experience being 'forced' to play 24 minutes a night against players he clearly wasn't capable of defending against on a team with no personal responsibility and being proclaimed a future Norris winner. Schultz put himself in that position, so I can't feel too bad for him, but I think under different circumstances he may have actually been a servicable top 4 player.
He still has the raw talent that made him a "sweepstakes" player. A good coach, sheltered minutes, and some time to get rid of the bad habits bestowed upon him by the loser organization and I still think there's time for him to carve out an NHL career. I hope he does, another blemish on the Oilers if he does.
