It is a lot of people, but it is still the very slight minority of fans. There are millions of Leafs fans, that means that there are going to be a lot of idiots. I am sure that the vast majority of their fans are great people who go to work just the same way that you or I do, enjoy watching hockey and then going to sleep at the end of the night, regardless as to whether their team is any good or not. There are the few people who get worked up and have a personal dislike of a team or player so that it leaches into their personal life and get angry. Those people are the people who need to find something else to occupy their time, take up yoga, read a book, furiously masterbate into a sock for a while, essentially anything else. It is a sport, which can bring joy and heartbreak, but it is also completely inconsequential to one's life and needs to be treated as such.
