Agreed. Everyone understands that "these are people, they care" blah blah blah. Do your job and analyze the sport as a member of the media, not as someone who wants to be BFF with the players. Totally ridiculous.
I've actually noticed this a lot in hockey -- media guys are way too personal with the players and teams and don't ask the real questions that fans are thinking about.
