Why should we trust Apple less or more than we trust the government? Both in terms of capability to protect secrets and resisting the urge to not abuse them for some gain. Though Apple having this doesn't really gain them anything I guess.
Companies get hacked all the time as well, so that limitation doesn't help with regards to making sure this exploit doesn't make it into the wild.
Apple's a global company, what happens when other countries make the same request for use of the tool?
