Default HMCS Winnipeg comes home

I'm officially a member of WIN's crew as the SAC (Shipborne air controller) but got injured during mission WUPs (workups) and couldn't deploy.

But she came home today with most of her crew and made history with a male/male first kiss.

The media is spinning the first kiss as a statement by the RCN.. But.. That's not how it works with the first kiss.

It's a lottery, sailors buy tickets for a draw on the final leg of a deployment and the winner is first off the boat with a kiss from a loved one.

I am good friends with the sailor mentioned and am not trying to take anything away from his moment and the history marker.

I just think it's silly for the media to try and spin it that the RCN somehow set this up as a way to show the CF's acceptance of same sex couples.
We absolutely support individual rights and freedoms to love anyone you chose.

None the less, welcome home to my fellow sailors and I hope they have a safe and warm transition back to home life.
