I'd pay him $30 million on a sliding year to year basis. A 5 year contract with vesting options each year based on performance would be fine, even with the first 2 or even 3 years guaranteed I'd be fine. That is the only way I'd take that chance.

Not a chance do I give Bautista 30M for even a single year. I'd rather have Price's contract for 7 years than Bautista's for 5. Price's contract was nasty, but this one would be borderline insanity.
As I said, the number seems fishy to me.
