Shinkaruk's scouting report from Redline in his draft year:
"12. Hunter Shinkaruk - LW
Produced in double coverage against top defencemen every night by making quicker decisions. Dynamic if given even a sliver of space. Comes out of corners and lasers home bullets before goalies or defencemen can get set. Powerful skater with a separation gear - balance continues to improve with increasing leg strength. Stickhandles with the puck on a string and is a better skater when he has the puck. Outstanding ability to get shots off in full flight handcuffs goalies. Compete level in contested areas is a positive. Uses teammates effectively on the PP. Medicine Hat plays on one of the smallest ice surfaces in the CHL, so it’s ludicrous how often he finds open ice, suggesting a great hockey IQ. Teams have tried running him all season, but despite lack of optimal size, he’s a well-balanced skater who is impossible to knock down.
Projection: Legitimate first line scoring winger.
Style compares to: Jason Pominville"
They had Poirier at #21, Kimchuk at #27 and Monahan at #6
