Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving: He wants badly to be active and is willing to accept he hasn’t got a playoff team this spring. Teams are calling about veteran forward Jiri Hudler, who is an unrestricted free agent, along with defenceman Kris Russell. There was talk the Flames were going to re-sign Russell but the word is the two sides aren’t close to a deal but he could fetch north of $5 million on the open market and Calgary may not pay that out. Some wonder if Treliving will be able to get a goalie at this deadline.

The word is Treliving has his work cut out for him trying to sign Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau. Both are RFAs and it’s believed talks have started with both. Nobody is sure what the asking price is but the word is they’re both looking for lots in their new deals.
