The aurora is neat but I prefer the deep space objects for viewing. This is a wide field shot of Orion at 10s. You can see the Great Orion Nebula (M42) with the naked eye, but you won't pick up the colours. There is a lot going on in Orion and much of it can be viewed easily with 10x50 binos.
Just to the NW of Orion are a couple of star clusters that, again, can be seen with the naked eye. The Vee-shaped cluster at the lower left is Hyades. The prominent orangish star is Aldebaran, which isn't actually part of the cluster. The cluster at the upper right is Pleiades (M45). It is a pretty site with a pair of good binos.
