I agree the cap increase is ugly. It's a bit short-sighted and I also didn't realize Subban is turning 27 soon, I could have sworn he was closer to 25. , However I disagree about the improvement we would see by replacing Hamilton with Subban being small.
Subban is a bonafide #1, one of about ten guys in the league who can carry his pairing with any scrub. He's
really damn good. We'll be fortunate if Hamilton is ever about 80% as good as him. His ability to legitimately carry a pairing is something even Gio can't do for us, and I'm a huge Gio fan. Having Subban and Brodie on separate pairings gives us 45-50 minutes a game of a constant onslaught, and pairing them together would just be amazing to watch.
But yeah, with his cap hit and age, I change my mind.
