This team doesn't need a #1 goalie now and giving up assets to get one would be a mistake. This team either needs a goalie who can hold us over until we find a #1 guy or a young goalie who can turn into a #1 guy within about 2-3 years.

IMO there are no real #1 goalies available. The guys who are available are average and not going to really steal a ton of games or be the teams MVP. This team isn't going to be a contender next year anyway so getting someone who's just good enough is all they really need. Unless a really good young goalie becomes available, the team should just take who they can for short term. I really think of all the guys available, Raanta is the best option this coming off season with Reimber being the second option. If they're going to trade for a goalie, I'd try to target someone like Mrazek if possible or even Pickard or Andersen but who knows what could happen. Some players may become available through trade and be perfect for the Flames moving forward.

I just don't think giving up assets right now for someone to help the team almost make the playoffs would be a huge mistake. If they can't get someone good and young, they may have to settle for a vet on a 2 year deal just to ride things out.
