Sure plenty of main characters have been killed on Walking Dead but it's typically a slow burn to their death. This last episode was a prime example where the entire Anderson family gets killed off meanwhile the rest of the crew don't get a scratch from a zombie. Carl miraculously has his eye shot out yet no brain or skull damage and we are again trolled with Glenn using another of his 9 lives to escape another seemingly imminent death. This show has done things better in past episodes/seasons but this one was one of the more sloppier episodes to date.

I think you have to look at it with more of a 'Macro' perspective.
The Walking Dead is interesting because there is no real 'Ultimate Objective' other than 'being safe.' They want a safe, sustainable place to live. To do this they have to kill zombies.
And thats pretty much it.
So enjoy your favourite characters killing zombies.
