If he's just getting rid of it because he doesn't care about all that stuff, or he's selling it for charity, then it would be cool to have.
There was a story years ago about someone finding a bunch of Guy Lafleur memorabilia at the dump. Guy had taken it there himself (IIRC) because he didn't want it and his kids didn't want it, so off to the dump it goes.
I guess some of these guys who "lived it" don't need the constant reminders? Hopefully that's the deal with Belfour.

Came to add the Lafleur reference. Some guys don't care about this stuff, it's in their past and they've moved on. Hopefully for Belfour, it's that. Before he died, Jean Beliveau auctioned off a bunch of stuff to pay for his grandkids' college educations etc.
