And they were right.
Greening - 0.92M remaining this year, 3.2M remaining next year.
Cowen - 1.23M remaining this year, 4.5M remaining next year.
Michalek - 1.33M remaining this year, 4M remaining next year.
That's over 15M the Leafs have committed on players that the Senators had made healthy scratches or sent to the AHL this year, ~10M if they buy them out. Maybe they bounce back, maybe the Leafs just buy a couple of them out this summer but to the Senators that was a significant amount of salary ate by the Leafs. Like the Horton-Clarkson trade, it made sense for the Leafs as a non-budget team but we're still talking about $10,000,000.00-$15,000,000.00. That's $20,000,000.00 CAD right now.
