The argument he made is (essentially) that there is only so much room for talent. My reply is that's garbage - lots of teams have had more talent than the Oilers or the current Penguins. And they have done just fine.
So it's a baseless argument.
The problem with the Oilers (and the Penguins) is that they are poorly constructed. (Well okay, the Oilers have a LOT of problems).
But the 'there's only one puck' argument is silly.

I understand what you're saying, but Edmonton and Chicago both had well built teams in the past. Edmonton is too heavy and that's it. They aren't built as a team at all.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding Stocks comments. I took it as more that the team isn't built properly.
