I thought I'd wade into the conversation as this has begun to spread as a hot topic.
As Photon indicated, there is definitely a DDoS attack going on, and there has been for a while. It's not large enough to register at the carrier level, but it is large enough to have a big impact on CP performance. The impact is worse during games, but shows up periodically at other times. The tech teams suspect the attack is scaled intentionally to stay under the radar but still impact performance, but I really don't know whether it is that sophisticated.
We've been working quite hard to block this but identifying the party responsible is pretty much impossible at this point. We have some thoughts, but they are just theories.
I'd like to ask for everyone's patience. My team wanted to keep this low key so we don't encourage whomever is responsible. We feel giving them satisfaction will encourage them. But things recently blew up to a point that exceeded low key

, so felt I should post here and give you the straight goods. There are a lot of people putting in a lot of effort to get us our hockey news as fast as possible, and a lot of those people, such as Photon himself, are doing this on their own time. Thanks and kudos to them all.
