If that were the case, I'd do it, because the Flames could always flip Eriksson for a later 2nd round pick from a contender, plus they may also still nab another 2nd rounder(s) for Hudler and/or Russell, in which case the Flames may not pick as early in the second round, but could still end up with multiple 2nd round picks AND be rid of Wideman's contract next season.
Of course, some may argue the cost to unload Widemans contract would be more than just dropping 15-25 spots in the 2nd round?
