I knownitnwas Eklund but when he linked Wideman to the Bruins he mentioned either Eriksson or Subban being on the return. Dumping the Wideman money is a win considering his age and the fact he doesn't fit on the top 4 moving forward. Eriksson makes no sense as the Flames are not really in the playoff race anymore. If they were in it that would be a great fit. Subban I could see as a nice Hiller replacement as he could be our backup next year and another possible number 1 down the road.

I think if Treliving is able to move Wideman out at the deadline there will be some upset people around here as that could open the door for a Russell extension. Personally for me the best case scenario would be moving Wideman out AND getting draft picks for Russell. Run with Nakladal for the rest of the year and take a run at adding to the blueline over the summer.
