Well, on paper the Flames should have had more opportunity for him as we've got a worse roster especially at top 6 forward. But the Blackhawks told hm he'd be playing with Patrick Kane (which he has, since day one) while we likely told him he could rot on our AHL squad and maybe get called up someday.

Yeah the orange Julius guy said the flames told Panarin it'll be a cold day in hell before they give young or new players a chance. No young players. No rookies. Definitely no small skilled players. They are just not welcome on the Calgary Flames. Ever.
Other than that he was going to sign for sure.
