Well as other have said, that makes no sense. Sure he could have signed on July 1st, but that doesn't happen that often. Only with franchise guys. So what if Frolik and Hamilton got bigger contracts? He was already signed. That means every other player in the league who is a pending UFA should be sad because other players sign contracts on their team? Makes no sense.
And from what I gathered, Jiri was very happy playing a mentoring role last season and said it's a role he loved. Can't for the life of me figure out why he'd want a fresh start. Oh yea that's right, he's a UFA who just had a career high season and he's looking to cash in. I don't blame him one bit for wanting to cash in. He's earned every penny of his contract here and deserves one last big pay day. I just hope it's not with us.
