Having a career year at 31 when the players the team brought in and pod over the summer were 22 and 27. The writing was always on the wall for Huds. Johnny and Monahan are the future and will be paid, and vets like him will move on unless they take a lower salary to be part of the team.
Gio took less than market value to stay. All the talk of Buff getting 8 years $7+M leads me to believe Gio (who is back on pace for 55pts) could have gotten $8M on the open market. He took $6.75 and 6 years.
I also think the fact Hudler is on the small side hurts his value to the team
