Glad he was voted the MVP. The league looked pretty bad when they tried to deny him going and then the trade happened. And for what it's worth, I don't buy the ''it was a whole hockey trade thing.'' Way to convenient and it got the desired result the league wanted.
Thankfully the league saved face and let him attend, and it turned out to be a great decision and was probably the most entertaining all-star game I've seen since the early 90s. The 3 on 3 worked out great. It was fast, entertaining, and even the goalies made some huge saves. Having the players mic'd up, the celebrity coaches and Nashville musical atmosphere. It was a rousing success. Toss in a feel good story like John's with his pregnant wife in attendance and his parents. You couldn't have scripted it any better.
All in all, a very entertaining and worthwhile event.
