At worst, the two teams are of similar quality, though very different in construction. The Jets last year were positively on the cusp but Chevy didn't make the right moves to take the next step for this season. You can't perpetually rebuild, he should've moved some expendables and youth/picks for a top 4 LH defenseman and another top 6 center. He should've kept Stempniak too, who has always been a solid 3 RW. Luckily Hellebuyck has been phenomenal otherwise they'd be even further behind. He needed to combine that luck with a couple solid additions to round out the team, instead he wants to play the long game forever. He's too conservative for his own good, even factoring in the Kane trade (which was forced).
