I enjoyed Oxford, MS and Mobile, AL.
As hinted at above, Oxford is the "hometown" (not born there I don't think, but resided there) of William Faulkner, and his old house is a heritage site, and his grave is in the local cemetery.
Great bookstore in Oxford that's said to have the most first editions of anywhere around (in the country? I don't know).
Walking around the Ole Miss campus makes you feel like you are on a movie set (cheesy teen college comedy etc.).
