I find this really hard to think about, almost more so than humans suffering. I don't know why, I guess it's because animals are just so defenseless. The real failing here is that this guy should be going through the psychiatric system to get a diagnosis, medication, etc. Or maybe he did?
On the other hand, at least our society values animals and has laws in place with real consequences. A lot of places in the world wouldn't give two ####s.
