Yes its tragic that they're killing people by carrying this disease, but isn't this part of the whole circle of life thing.

The idea is to kill off only certain species of mosquitos that carry human pathogens. Theoretically those species would be replaced by similar species of mosquitos that aren't dangerous to humans.

You're right though, even that plan could have lots of unforeseen effects on the ecosystem, which is why it hasn't actually gone ahead.
