The salary cap is staying relatively flat next season. Last off-season we saw teams being very careful when handing out contracts and I don't see that changing this upcoming off-season. These middling potential UFAs like Russell or Hudler are unlikely to receive good long term deals and run a risk at being really in trouble if they're not signed early on and teams are running out of cap space. I don't see any team offering Russell $4 million unless maybe if it's a 1 or 2 year deal.
