Yeah, Matthews could easily be better than Puljujarvi now and in the future, I guess I'm just confused by your juvenile reasoning as to why.
NHL teams and their scouts are projecting where the player will end up, not how many points they're putting up now. Obviously more points is nicer but Puljujarvi being lower in the depth charts because of players older than him really doesn't matter. The kids playing in the Finnish Elite League, Swedish Elite League, KHL etc tend not to be in top roles on those clubs entering the NHL draft. That's not exactly new or anything either so it's a weird thing to use as a knock against Puljujarvi.
Endless examples of guys with small numbers coming from those leagues as 17-18 year olds.
And I'd put the competition in the Swiss league in between the AHL and NCAA, but lower than the SEL, KHL, Finnish Elite.
