It should go without saying that there are big differences in maturity levels and opportunities between young players. A few months make a huge difference and you can expect the youngsters to score more and more and get more ice time towards the end of the season. Like you note, Aho who was drafted last year has had a significant role on the team for the entire season.
From a third liner in Finland to one of the top scorers all time at the U20. That tells you something.
I agree that Matthews is the best player in the draft but he's also older and playing in a softer league. Ovechkin had 13 goals in his final season in Russia.
