Aging veteran who was also dropping in the Hawks lineup as time went on. You have to make tough choices when you're trying to hold together a decent roster, and depreciating assets with a large cap hit are a tough sell.
The harder trade was seeing Saad go I'm sure, but he managed to get Anisimov and Dano back in the deal. That's a decent return when you consider that the only reason they were trading Saad was because they wouldn't be able to afford him.
After the hot start by Dallas, they are falling back to the pack despite having Sharp, and the 'Hawks still look really, really good now leading the toughest division in hockey. I'd say the GM has done fairly well all challenges considered.
