Gotta put out a full lineup, and I can't think of many teams who are completely happy with every single player in their lineup. That's the new NHL. Parity exists because you can't stack your team anymore due to a salary cap. The bottom of every roster is filled with guys that are imperfect players, but can all take a regular shift in the NHL. You have two options to fill that bottom of the roster: 1) marginal or aging veterans who don't have much upside anymore, or 2) young and inexperienced cheap players who are mistake-prone.
It is what it is, and it's the same for every team. You have to pick your poison and live with it.
