I thought it was funny the first time when the fans attempted to vote Rory Fitzpatrick into the all-star game.

The NHL didn't have any problem letting Zemgus Girgensons play. They might not have even had an issue with John Scott being there had the All-Star game still been in the old format. He could have blended in a bit 5 on 5.

However the NHL is trying to showcase the new format, and John Scott would be a disaster for that.

I'm actually interested in watching the 3 on 3 format, and I think it'll be pretty entertaining compared to the usual game. Scott would not had added to the entertainment factor. The joke is already old, and that's all he would have been good for.

Scott should have taken the NHL's offer to attend as a ceremonial figurehead. Quit while you're ahead.
