Some people simply can't say no to high pressure sales BS or much anything else. I have a friend who ended up with several of the door to door -things' (they aren't really scam because you get what they say you get, but you DON'T get the full story/disclosure most would actually want...) because she's simply an incredibly soft mark, and they make enough off people like that, that, like the telephone scammers, it's worthwhile enough to keep doing. She has 'solved' this problem by simply not answering the door unless you call her and tell her that you are outside.
