the Eagles to me are the ultimate road trip band.
You could pop in a tape of DVD or nowdays an MPS player and the miles would just fly by.
A couple of years ago I had to go on a road trip to Grande Prarie for a football game, and it was 13 hours on the bus. I put in my head phones, put on the Eagles and watched the scenery fly by.
With the exception of Golden Earring another great road trip band, I haven't found another band or singer with that effect.

Couldn't agree more....Hell Freezes Over tour... IIRC 1995 (somewhere in there as that part of my life all just blends together).
The music is great, the vocals are terrific and the whole experience of an Eagles show is unforgettable.
And I 2nd the suggestion of watching the documentary on them...remarkable stuff and knowing how close Henley and Frye were, this has to be a very hard time for Don as well as Timothy B and Joe.
Just really sad news.
