You neglect to understand that at the end of the day, Getting Phaneuf off of the Flames roster was by the biggest win that trade produced. I never cared about the return. And in all honesty, Stajan was a good piece to get back as the C depth was as always weaker than crap back then.
I was elated Phaneuf was gone, more excited than when Bourque got traded away or Glencross. Addition by subtraction.

You fail to realize that there was other ways of getting him off the roster besides getting fleeced in the most lopsided trade this side of Joe Thornton. Thank goodness you aren't the GM, that's a terrible philosophy. I would say it would make Kevin Lowe proud but even he would laugh at that.
