So why not take advantage of this unexpected turn of events to use John Scott's experience to give the fans a players view of the All Star experience?

John Scott is Everyman. He may as well a rec hockey league player. He may as well be one of us. He's not an NHL All Star. He's an outsider.

I think it would have been awesome to view the whole All Star experience through his eyes NHL 24/7 style. Behind the Scenes. Inside Access.

So poorly handled by the NHL and possibly a missed opportunity to boot.
This. The NHL just can't grasp opportunities. Must be a horrible marketing department. 24/7 was terrible this year compared to others. Nothing can beat Boudreau's swearfest. They have had shows on Oilers and Canadiens but how bout the Flames. Here is a team that made the 2nd round last year, has Gaudreau, Bennett, Monahan and Brodie and the coach of the year who is a quote machine and nobody can build a show around this?

Scott having a blast at the all-star game voted in by the people is an amazing marketing opportunity for a corporate event and the NHL has to purposely flush it down the toilet.
