The answer is the second one. You need to know the "order of operations" (i.e., solve all the multiplications before you solve the additions, even if they're written in the reverse order, etc, etc).

Oddly most of the skill testing questions use a left to right rule, rather than Bedmas, if you actually get the answer the look for, I remember Macs used to have some instant win thing on their frosters every summer and to claim it the answer always worked to to the current year using left - right and some obscure negative number using bedmas, it was obvious they wanted the year.
