My issue with this whole thing is how we're prioritizing among bad results. Let's say a vehicle is in a situation where it can't avoid an accident. Should it try to drive up on the curb to avoid it? If so, can it tell that there are people on the sidewalk? Can it avoid them? Let's say there are several people on the sidewalk, can it preferentially avoid the couple with their baby carriage? Do we want it to?
Most importantly, who gets to make these decisions? Tesla?
