It really is too bad that he doesn't take advantage of any of his tools. He could be a really good player if he did. I Had really high expectations for him this season, especially after his performance in the playoffs... But now I'm just

People also forget that last season was technically his sophomore season. He's going through a bad slump many young players do. But at the same time, incredibly hard to defend him lately. I keep hearing that he has all the tools. But what exactly are those tools? He's tall. He's good at defending the puck. He's got a big ass. He's good at shootouts. He's a good interview.
But overall, I fail to see exactly what is in his so-called toolbox that gives him such 'potential'. He has a muffin shot. His passing sucks. He's not fast. Sometimes he's physical, but no where near enough. I've never seen him dangle anybody other then the shootout. I wouldn't say he has very good hockey IQ.
The trade for Joe was great. But looking at the forwards on our roster:
Colborne
Jones
Stajan
Jooris
Raymond
Bollig
etc
That's a garbage group of forwards. Maybe Stajan gets a pass since he actually makes our 4th line somewhat reliable. But when you ice a lineup like that, it's no wonder the Flames are stuck in mediocritiy. And truthfully there doesn't seem to be a lot coming in through the pipeline.
Treliving has a lot of work to do before this team even begins to consider itself a contender.
