It's a funny season.
The bottom was much, much bottomier last year. Last year at the same time Edmonton and Buffalo had 29 and 30 points respectively and had a goal differential of -120. This year the bottom two have 34 points each and a goal differential of -51. Last year there were 7 teams with less than 40 points, this year there's only 3. There's simply no more free points
